NEW GENERATION CTO Therapies

NEW GENERATION CTO Therapies

The Method That Makes Open Heart Surgery History CTO Treatment
In the past, “coronary artery bypass graft” (CABG) surgery was the only solution for the opening of the Chronic Total Occlusion (CTO) vessel, but today there are new treatment options for patients; Thanks to the developing scientific and technological methods, non-surgical options with special instruments have come to the fore.
Completely occluded heart vessels, which are life-threatening, can also be opened with non-surgical methods. With the Chronic Total Occlusion/CTO treatment, which is extremely comfortable for the patient, recovery can be achieved in a short time.
The condition that the coronary vessel is completely occluded for at least 3 months and there is no blood flow from the occluded vessel is called “chronic total occlusion (CTO)”. These very chalky, hard, petrified vessels with heavy atherosclerosis plaques are opened with special hard wires, balloons and stents developed for this procedure, in a short time with an angio-like procedure, without putting the patient to sleep and by entering with a needle from the groin.
Occlusion in the main vessels leading to the heart is a ‘coronary artery’ disease and in patients with this condition; Complaints in the form of chest pain, shortness of breath, early fatigue and palpitation can be seen while walking, climbing stairs and even during daily activities in progressive forms. In case of occlusion of the main vessels, blood flow to the heart is provided by natural thin vessels called “collaterals”. However, if this situation continues for a long time in which the heart cannot be fed adequately and the necessary treatment is not provided, it may result in irreversible heart failure. In the treatment of completely occluded vessels with interventional methods, a preliminary examination with computed tomography is sometimes performed before the procedure. The patient who was processed later; veins with very calcified, petrified and heavy arteriosclerosis plaques are intervened with wires, balloons and stents specially produced for this process. With this interventional application similar to angiography, the clogged vessels are opened without putting the patient to sleep and by entering the groin with a needle and reaching the heart.
The heart contraction strength of patients with CTO vein increases, their cardiac complaints, especially chest pain and shortness of breath, are greatly improved, effort capacity improves, heart failure problem is prevented, and the need for open heart surgery (CABG) is eliminated. The patient’s life expectancy and comfort also increase.
